Kruger Family Farms

Tom Kruger started farming with his father Vern and his twin brother Tedd when he was 12 years old, in rural Plainview, Minnesota. They raised hogs, corn, beans, oats, hay, and canning crops for Lakeside Foods. For 13 years, he worked for Schultz Implement selling CaseIH equipment and parts. While working at Schultz Implement in 1985, he married Sue Weiss, a city girl gone country.

In 1994, Tom started farming on his own. He owned over 600 acres and rented an additional 400 acres of corn and beans. He built his own grain storage and dryer system in the summer of 1996. From 1996 to 2000, the tractors converted from wheels to tracks, and now all but the utility tractors are Caterpillar tractors. In the Spring of 2001, Tom bought and planted corn with a 15-in. row Kinze planter. Now the fields are less wheel-compacted and have more refuse, which prevents soil erosion.

Our Team

But the equipment never makes the farm; it is the operators. Myron Meyer has been a long-term employee and now a business partner. He is the farm’s DOT inspector and a licensed commercial herbicide and manure applicator. He keeps the equipment as well as the farm operation rolling.

Tom joined forces with Augie Schad, local Mycogen and Latham seed dealer, in 2002. The farm rents his land and in the process gained an excellent planter, combine and truck operator. With his 2-way radio entertainment, Augie keeps everyone moving efficiently and laughing at the same time. With Augie comes his wife, Nancy Ruesink, who has years of farm experience and a very kind heart. She is a heck of a grain cart operator, too.

In March 2005, Chris Tucker joined Kruger Family Farms. He has become a key element to this operation. He is a mechanic, manure applicator and wonderful detail man.

In August 2007, a bright-eyed young man appeared at our door. Pete Wood had just passed his CDL and was ready to drive semi trailers. Pete enjoys all the farm duties on the farm, but shines with customer relations. Both Kruger Family Farm and Eagle Bio-Fuels' customers comment on his conscience and courteous attitude. With that in mind, it was only natural that Pete would be an excellent sales representative for Eagle Bio-Fuels. Pete is in charge of visiting hearth stores and stove dealers throughout the Midwest.

Besides our full-time help, we are blessed with many good seasonal employees. This is the team that makes things happen year after year.

Mitchell and Matthew Kruger are just starting to help with mowing the large farm yard and chopping stalks. Let us not forget the never-ending job of picking rocks. Now, they help bag products for Eagle Bio-Fuels.

Besides working in the farm office, Sue is the marketing manager of Eagle Bio-Fuels. She travels throughout the United States setting up Eagle Bio-Fuels dealers and organizing home delivery routes.

Commitment to Energy Independence

Their most recent business venture is Eagle Bio-Fuels, LLC, raising corn specifically processed for heating purposes and blending it with pellets. They sell bulk and bagged product delivered to homes and businesses in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Also they are manufacturing and selling mini bulk bins for bulk Eagle Fuels.

For the future of our children, Tom and his family know that every American will need to achieve energy independence. An easy step to declaring independence from petroleum products is to heat our homes with alternative fuels.
